Income Taxes
There is no Internal Revenue Service (IRS) office in Serbia. However, the Internal Revenue Service office located at the U.S. Embassy in Paris, France maintains an excellent website with a wide variety of extremely useful information and tips for U.S. taxpayers living overseas. They can also answer questions on U.S. taxes from U.S. taxpayers living in Serbia. You can access their website at http://france.usembassy.gov/irs.html.
If you need U.S. tax forms, the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade can provide you with selected tax forms. Tax forms that are in demand the most (1040 for overseas filers, extension forms, etc.) are always on stock in sufficient quantities. If you need a less common or more specific form, we can print it for you from the IRS web site on the Internet. If you have Internet access, you can print the forms from your computer by accessing the IRS website at: http://www.irs.ustreas.gov/
For information on obtaining IRS forms from the Consular section, please call the switchboard at +381 11 361 9344 and ask to be connected with American Citizen Services.
Local Tax Preparation Assistance
For local assistance, the Embassy is currently aware of only two private providers of tax assistance services for U.S. taxpayers in Serbia. (Please note that the Embassy can take no responsibility for the performance of private tax assistance providers). Clients should make their own determination of the qualifications they need in an advisor and always consult a prospective advisor regarding fees before engaging his or her services.
