Drug Confiscation - Joint Action

On October 15, 2009, at 07.00 hours local time, acting on the information provided by the Security Information Agency of the Republic of Serbia (BIA) and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Uruguayan authorities confiscated more than 2 tons of cocaine at a small marina on the outskirts of Montevideo, Uruguay. The cocaine was stashed on the British-registered vessel "MAUI". The narcotics that were seized were bound for the European market. The value of the narcotics is estimated at 120 million euros, and its street value is estimated at 250 million euros.
